Meral Maas – Logistics

Meral Maas (1995) is a second year Art History student at the University of Utrecht. With a lot of love for Utrecht, modern art and everything related to food, she has a broad interest in varied subjects. This broad interest makes for an open and curious attitude towards new ways of thinking and experiences. This can express itself by way of discovery of a new cafe, but also by travelling to other countries within and outside of Europe. FAAM is a project that is a good fit for Meral’s interests because of the active collaboration and involvement between Art History students and HKU students. During her Art History study, Meral would like to attend the minor Journalistiek (UVA) and the minor Brains&Bodies: cognitie en emotie in de geesteswetenschappen (UU).

Rosalie Woudman – Finances

Rosalie Woudman – Finances

Rosalie Woudman (1999) studied Art History at the University of Utrecht in the college year of 2018-2019, but decided to quit, because she did not only want to be busy with analysing art, but also wanted to put more energie in making art. This, for her, was the main reason to start studying Fine Arts and design in Education at the HKU. A happy decision so far. The connection between making and researching art is very important to her as well as interests her greatly. As a board member of FAAM, she hopes to actively contribute to the connection between practice and theory (University and HBO). Besides this she enjoys festivals, good music, long sunny (summer)days, animals and experimenting with vegetarian cooking. When life gets her down she can always be cheered up by a glass of white, red or rose wine.

Nina Nijenhuis – Secretary

Nina Nijenhuis – Secretary

Last year Nina Nijenhuis (1994) finished her bachelor of Art History at the University of Utrecht. Currently she is studying at the University of Amsterdam, where she is attending the master Art, Culture and Politics. Her love for art is immense, which is why she loves to visit interesting exhibitions. Her interest in the influence that art can have is maybe even greater and she sees this as an important theme. If Nina is not studying (which nowadays is rare), she enjoys doing yoga or reading books. Besides this she is a secretive (not so secretive) fervent collector, which makes her room a place in which there is always something new to discover.

Kiki Beernink – Webmaster/PR

Kiki Beernink (1995) is an artist who graduated in 2019 from the HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht), where she completed the Fine Art program. Her main focus is painting and drawing. Besides developing her art practice, she is now studying to become an art teacher. One of her favorite activities is conveying her knowledge and enthusiasm to others. FAAM Utrecht fits her interests well. According to Kiki, bringing together the artist and the art historian results in a fruitful collaboration in which both parties can teach each other valuable lessons. The exhibitions which are part of the end product make her feel motivated and spark her imagination, forming a source of inspiration for her own artwork.

Annette Knol – Chairman

Annette Knol (1994) studied Art History at Utrecht University, specializing in modern and contemporary art and architecture. She is very interested in making connections between different parties and disciplines within the art world. Because of that, she is obtaining her Master’s degree in Book Studies at the University of Amsterdam, focusing on the connection between word and image. Why do painters sometimes start writing and why do so many writers choose fine art as a subject for their texts? What influence has an illustrator on a written text? It is this exciting exchange between disciplines which Annette is looking for by organizing FAAM Utrecht. Stepping outside your comfortable room, out into someone else’s world: that always works refreshing!

Annelotte Stroober – PR

Annelotte Stroober – PR

Annelotte Stroober (1997) is a third year Photography student, studying at the HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht). However, she does not limit herself to the photographical medium. She makes use of various media and is interested in all kinds of art. She realized that the connection between the Art History Bachelor program (Utrecht University) and the HKU was lacking (till last year) and that FAAM Utrecht had the potential to bridge this gap. She is convinced that both parties can learn from each other, by finding the perfect balance between formulating their own artistic vision on the one hand, and trusting the curator on the other, who is the art history student. She gets excited from the exhibitions which are the result of FAAM Utrecht and really hopes to convey this enthusiasm to the participants and visitors.
